I just started reading Love this morning. I think it's really good stuff so far and I only read the forward so far. It does go on for 20 pages though.

It's not a big book so at this pace I'll finish it in a few days.

My biggest take out of it was everything changes. This is a new idea to me and I knew it was true but I never really thought about it. I never notice if people have a new hair due. In fact I bought my mom to the airport this morning and the service agents commented on her new style and I did not notice it. I need to change this and start looking at people.

Chapter 1 was about how we were taught love. Very interesting stuff that I never really thought about.

I read Chapter 2 and 3 yesterday. Two had some information I already knew like how there were babies that given no type of affection that died. They were perfectly healthy but they died without any kind of love. I didn't know about other studies on orphans and how love impacted their lives. Like one set were given a friend and they went on to live successful lives. The other not so much.

Chapter 3 was about the definition of love that's actually something I thought about since High School thanks to this teacher I had. Because some people use the word love so willy nilly that they say the love hot dogs. And maybe it's our culture or just our language. There are romantic languages like French and I never understood why people call it that until I read this. They are able to convey love not only verbally but though gestures that we don't with English.

Chapter 7 was about labels and how they're a barrier between us and other people. And that's something for the past year and a half I been thinking about and something I had problems with my whole life.

I used to be a really militant atheist. While it was fun to poke fun at people it didn't really make me any friends. I used to think any religious person was stupid. Obviously I was wrong.

And of course there's politics. I used to be that liberal who'd watch MSNBC all the time and thought Republicans were stupid. I was never a full blown Democrat until I needed to join to vote for Bernie Sanders because I thought they didn't go far enough. I've certainly changed though and became more nuanced. Reading Ralph Nader's book Breaking Though Power was an eye opener on this when he listed things most Americans agree with and he still pushes for a Left-Right Alliance on issues on his podcast.

The ending made me laugh so much that I shaded some tears. I liked this book. I think a lot of you would agree that we are responsible for what path we take in life. If we want something we would have to work at it.

As a person who used to be a Yes Man I don't like the thinking that the best answer to any question is yes. And it's not like Leo went that depth into it but the word Yes was very important to the ending of the book.
